The following is statistical information about the potential mine site at South Bickham. It was gathered to assess the potential for a coal mine at the site.

Bickham Coal Company has been carrying out various environmental studies, particularly on water usage and management for the life of a mine.

Location: 12km south-east of Murrurundi and 25km north of Scone
District: Upper Hunter Shire (previously Murrurundi, Merriwa and Scone Shires)
Land area: 1,154 hectares
Exploration Licences held: EL5888 and EL5306
Bore holes: 127 in total

  • 200mm diameter, seams cored
  • 13 Fully cored bores
  • 68 open holes, geophysically logged
  • 32 Water piezometers
  • Further Investigations continuing
